It means fakeness, they killed Jesus Christ and hide their bloody hands behind their back. Thye think that a smile can disarm you or deter you from seeing the truth of what they did.
Reply:hmmm, I think it is a knock on TV news people or maybe just people in power. They report on a tragedy, still looking perfect and plastic and smiling with their perfect white teeth. They report on inequities in society, and somehow marginalize them or knock down their importance by how they slant the news. It takes away our sense of outrage and leaves us with a sense of powerlessness.
